Anti-Aging Cacao Smoothie

I know I got you all excited for a cooking post, but I forgot to mention, I don't cook :) I am terrible at determining if the food is ready so I either burn or undercook food, so I am forced to come up with easy solutions for myself. For example, I absolutely love making delicious smoothies, because they are super fast and easy to make (just throw everything in a blender!), delicious and so good for you! My first smoothies recipe that I'd like to share with you is this cacao based anti-aging smoothie!

Ingredients (in order they go into my blender):

Coconut Water
2 tbsp Flaxseed (optional)
1 tbsp Chia Seed
2 tbsp Raw Cacao Powder
Stevia (optional)
3/4 cup of Spinach
1 Pear
A handful of Strawberries

Here are some of the reasons I use the above ingredients:

I base my smoothies on either coconut-almond milk or coconut water. Both are perfect low calorie alternatives to regular milk. This time I went with coconut water. Not only it is rich with potassium that keeps you hydrated but even provides anti-aging benefits as some researchers say.

Flaxseed is my easiest way to make sure I meet my daily fiber needs.

Cacao powder gives this smoothie a nice chocolate flavor while adding a powerful punch of immune boosting antioxidants, energizing iron and heart healthy magnesium. Just remember, that raw cacao power doesn't taste like a chocolate bar, so you'll need to add a natural sweetener like stevia or fruit.

Chia seeds add a mildly sweet flavor to your smoothie and provides omega fatty acids that increase healthy brain function.

Spinach is one of the worlds healthiest foods which is very nutrient-dense and super low in calories. It's is packed vitamins, antioxidants, iron, protein, fiber and the list goes on and on! Plus, it's the best way to boost your vegetable intake!

Pear. I use pears in smoothies when I am tired of bananas (especially if I already get my potassium from coconut water!) and simply because I like the taste.

Strawberries. Not only they are delicious, they are a great source of vitamin C, which helps fight wrinkles and age-related dryness.
