Dating Tips for Men + Play #AYTO to WIN A Trip to Hawaii

I have noticed quite an increase in my male audience and wanted to start a little section for guys. Whether it be male fashion, lifestyle or dating tips, I'll be sharing some articles every once in a while. But I am sure ladies can still benefit from this material and, if they like it, share it with men in their lives.
Today I am going to share a few dating tips for guys, which are especially relevant for first dates. So without further ado, here is my list:

1) Dress well. It doesn't mean you have to wear a suit, but looking neat and nice is essential. There are so many couples (especially in America) , that look ridiculous on the streets: while a girl is all dressed up, her guy can easily wear loose shorts and FLIP FLOPS (seriously, guys?). At least make an effort to look nice. Not only it reflects your personality, but it also shows the girl that you appreciate your time with her.
Possible outfit combinations: nice jeans and a shirt with unbuttoned collar, pants + a t-shirt + a blazer, pants + slim fit shirt + casual vest (you didn't expect this one, did you?). Overall, it doesn't matter what you wear, as long as it looks nice and fits your body type.

2) Mind you manners. No girl will ever appreciate the fact that you didn't open the door for her, didn't pick her up or didn't pick up the check. An occasional subtle compliment wouldn't hurt either ;)

3) Always PAY. Personally, I am a strong believer that a man should pay for a woman in any situation regardless of their involvement (boyfriend, mate, friend or brother). But considering that some people might have different upbringing, I will only cover the dating aspect. So if you are on a date, always pick up the check. It's just a matter of financial manners.

4) LISTEN and be genuinely interested. Women love attention, but we pick up very easily when the attention is fake. Ask questions about her and let her talk (DO NOT INTERRUPT!). On the other hand, don't interrogate her. If she feels uncomfortable or unwilling to talk about anything, change the topic or tell her a story or a joke.

5) Don't talk about yourself. A bit of generic information that she is interested in, is more than enough. If you always talk about your self, you'll look arrogant. If you always talk about your job, she might think that you have nothing to offer but your job title. Try to keep the conversation light and entertaining, rather than telling her your life story.

6) Don't talk about money. If you try to show off your wealth (in case you are wealthy), it will look
like you are trying to buy her. Women love to be conquered, not purchased.

7) Don't judge her. Especially if it's your first date... She might be as nervous as you are, so give her a chance to show her real self. Try to make it fun and relaxing for her.

Speaking of dating, I have been watching the reality-dating series "Are You The One" (AYTO), which airs on MTV. It features 10 men and 10 women who went through a matchmaking process, but the results are not revealed to them. Instead, they spend 10 weeks living together in Hawaii trying to figure out who is "the one". If the succeed and pair up with their predetermined match, they'll split a million dollars! It's super fun and entertaining! Watch the trailer for AYTO Season 3 here and the full first episode here
But what's even more fun, is that viewers can participate in their game too. You can WIN A TRIP TO HAWAII by playing the AYTO guessing game and answering questions throughout the show. Answers are revealed at the end of each show, so you must be participating while the episode airs. You rack up great points if you guess the answers correctly!
If you are a reality TV fan, I definitely recommend checking out the AYTO show on Wednesdays at 10/9 c on MTV and follow the show on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @AreUthe1 for all the updates.

  1. I agree with you! The man should always pay. Of course once in a while I treat my man to lunch or something but even then he really wont let me pick up the check, it will be a struggle.
